This beautiful 3 bedroom apartment which was recently featured in the leading Turkish Interior Design Magazines Home Art and Evim is located on the second floor of a historic (listed) building. It was designed by a prominant Italian architect more than 120 years ago and has many original features. It is located close to the British Consulate in Beyoglu, Istanbul. The apartment was completely repainted in 2020 and is in excellent condition. The outside of the building & roof were renovated in Summer 2016.
The apartment has been loving restored and benefits from original wooden floors and doors and beautiful, highly decorated, moulded ceilings. The ceilings are over 3.5 metres high and being a corner apartment with lots of windows and sunshine the apartment has a very light, bright, airy and spacious feel to it. Above the entrance doorway there are striking bevelled glass panels with an Ottoman tulip motif which have been created by a local artist.
There are two balconies with pretty plants and flowers from which you can see the Golden Horn and the Fatih Mosque on the one side and modern Istanbul on the other.
The Kitchen has plenty of cupboard space, black granite work surfaces and is fitted with top of the range appliances. It has a very practical original marble floor with inlaid design. The walls have been decorated with plain white and Iznik tiles. The kitchen has an open section which could be used as a breakfast bar.
The three bedrooms are all of a good size, the smallest one (with a balcony ) currently being used as a home office. The L shaped living and dining area is very cosy and quiet. The bathroom has been decorated with a Hamam feel to it, with marble tiles on the floor, woven marble tiles on the wall and Iznik tiles in the shower niche. The fittings are all Victorian chrome design in keeping with the age of the property.
Downstairs the apartment has its own secure cellar room with a window and electricity.
The building was designed by a famous Italian architect and is very well maintained. There is a mixture of Turkish and international residents in the building.
Grocery shops, hairdressers, gyms, hotels etc are a 2 minute walk away. The area is surprisingly quiet because the building is located off the main streets in a cul-de-sac. The lively Istiklal street (which offers every kind of shopping, bars, restaurants, cinemas, clubs etc) is a 10 minute walk away and Taksim Square is also a comfortable 10-15 minutes away. The Metro stops of Taksim and Sishane which connect you to the rest of Istanbul are 10-15 minutes walk away.
The apartment would be an ideal holiday or retirement apartment and with its excellent location would generate very good rental income.
