I have a short-term, ongoing, and flexible sublet opportunity that I would like to pass along to people affiliated with the University: students or post-docs, traveling faculty, conference attendees, etc. Dates can be flexible, especially given advance notice. In some cases I will have the ability to schedule my travel around someone's housing needs.
Between a hybrid job in Seattle and other travel, I am finding that I am often gone from my Berkeley apartment for a few weeks at a time. My landlord has given me permission to sublet for short periods of time (up to 28 days), and so I am looking to find people with short-term housing needs who would be respectful of the space and neighbors (we have a lovely community on my street).
It's a charming, light-filled one-bedroom apartment in a 1920s building four blocks north of UC-Berkeley. It's furnished with a queen size bed, a comfy futon in the living room, adjustable height sitting/standing desk, fast wifi, a deep bathtub, colorful decor, and very happy plants!
I have a cat and hypoallergenic dog who come with me or stay with friends when I travel--it's maybe not for those with a severe cat allergy.
Note on parking:
This could work for someone who drives to a 9-5, who doesn't have a car, or who has a separate parking solution. Parking is street (zone G in Berkeley residential parking), and so not readily available at least during the day M-F (would need to move the car every 2 hours). No issues to park on evenings and weekends.
