Perfect destination for a sun holiday that can be combined with safaris to the principal game parks of East Africa. Only 45km from Mombasa where you need to take the ferry (a colourful experience when it’s your first time) to get to the South Coast. Villa Bahati is only 5 minutes walking to the beautiful beach, located near Galu Beach which is the southern extension of the well known Diani Beach. Here you find Kenya’s premier hotels and resorts. Traditional thatched roof ensures that the villa remains cool in the hottest weather. Guests enjoy the use of the community pool (only used by guests of 2 other houses on the compound). The villa is staffed with a full time cook/housekeeper and a part time gardener. The staff do not live on the premises. At night security is assured by a guard on the property, supplemented by remote alarms in the main rooms (which we never had to use before…!). Regarding accessability, the kithchen, master bedroom, shower room and toilet (seperated from the shower room) are located on the ground floor.The kitchen is fully equiped. The master bed room has 1 kingsize bed. The second bedroom is located in the gallery, reached by stairs. This bedroom has 2 kingsize beds and the gallery also has a nice balcony where you can enjoy a nice breeze. Very nice for a sundowner. The cook/housekeeper will, on request, prepare and serve meals using supplies provided by the guests. His working hours are 8.00am-5.00pm with one hour break. Monday to Friday, half day Saturday, off Sunday. Overtime can be requested but is not compulsory. The hourly rate is KShs250 per hour, payable to the staff on completion of the overtime (daily, not at the end of the holiday). Our local agent will purchase on your behalf an initial supply of food and beverages. She will also guide you to the nearest supermarkets, restaurants and bars. She can also advise on car hire and safari arrangements if these have not been organised in advance. To go to the nearest supermarkets, restaurants and bars, you can use a rental car. We also can recommend reliable local taxi compagnies. Or you can use the matatu, a very cheap, small, local buss. Facilities for tourists include an 18 hole golf course, scuba diving and snorkelling, deep sea fishing and day trips by sailing boat or jet ski along the coast. Possible day trips include Shimba Hills Park (for the elephants) and old town Mombasa that is a world heritage site (Fort Jesus and the Arab influenced buildings). Your beach holiday can be combined with road safaris to Amboseli or Tsavo. The more adventurous can fly by light aircraft from Diani to Masai Mara or the Serengeti. All can be arranged through local agents prior to departure from Europe.
